Scammers dupe woman into handing over money

Police say a Bronx woman was duped by two scammers who convinced her to take money out of an ATM and hand it over to them.

Police say one of the suspects approached the 26-year-old victim in July on Westchester Avenue. According to police, the suspect asked the woman to split a large sum of money she had found.

At that point, police say a man approached the two women and accused them of stealing money. The suspects then asked the victim to take money out of her own account to prove she did not need money. Police say the suspects took the victim's money and fled.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
