Cooking gas back on for Evergreen Estates residents

Residents at Evergreen Estates say they are overjoyed their cooking gas is back on after being without it for months.

The gas was shut off for about nine months at the building while the owner overhauled the building's piping system. The manager says a leak back in December caused the problem and every gas line in the building had to be replaced.

Housing inspectors say re-piping the gas lines took longer because crews needed to enter every tenant's home before gas could be turned back on. An audit of the process also delayed the project.

Residents say they are just happy to be using their stoves once again.
