P.S. 51 to be relocated due to chemical contamination

Students at P.S. 51 will have to travel to a different school come September after the Deparmtent of Education shut down their building due to contamination.Parents and staff learned of the decision during a public meeting last night. They were told that students will be attending class at St. Martin of Tours School following the discovery of TCE, an industrial solvent, at the Bedford Park elementary school. TCE does not have immediate health risks. Buses will be made available to shuttle the kids to the new location, which is about 2 miles away from P.S. 51. Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott says arrangements will be made for parents who wish to transfer their kids to another school.
