Community effort helps clean up Throgs Neck eyesore

A local eyesore has been all cleaned up thanks to the efforts of several residents.

News 12 first reported the dilapidated conditions at 253 Huntington Ave. this month. Residents were frustrated at the overgrown weeds on the property. Efforts by Councilman James Vacca, state Sen. Jeff Klein and the former owner got the place cleaned up. The bank that currently owns the building and the Department of Sanitation also helped clean the mess.

Neighbors say they are thrilled at the way the property looks now. Klein says the foreclosed home will now be maintained by the bank.
