Charges upgraded against alleged shooter after cabbie dies

A Bronx cab driver died today at Lincoln Hospital nearly five months after he was shot during an attempted robbery, and the suspect in the case is now facing murder charges.

Julio Lora, 64, was shot in the head and neck in March. The suspected gunman, 29-year-old Devin Taylor, was subdued by Good Samaritans until police arrived.

The Bronx district attorney?s office announced today it will be upgrading Taylor's original charge of attempted murder to murder, along with the other charges he faces.

Lora's relatives described him as a hard worker and a hero, and said they will push for the maximum penalty against his alleged killer.
