Hoe Ave. shooting victim remembered at wake

A young mother who was killed Sunday when she was caught in the middle of a gunfight was mourned at a wake service today.

Family members and friends gathered at Ortiz Funeral Home on Southern Boulevard to pay their respects to Yaritza Pacheco.

Pacheco was shot in the neck early Sunday morning while walking to a restaurant near Hoe Avenue. Police say she was an innocent bystander who got caught in a gunfight between two men.

Mourners at the service described Pacheco, who was the mother of a 4-year-old daughter, as a loving and affectionate person.

Police have arrested and charged 19-year-old Jeffry Ramirez with second-degree murder in Pacheco's death. He's currently being held without bail and is due in court Friday.
