Tremont Ave. crashes prompt calls for DOT action

A string of crashes at a busy Bronx intersection has neighbors calling for the Department of Transportation (DOT) to step in.

Home and business owners describe the intersection of Tremont Avenue and Silver Street as highly dangerous and even terrifying.

Just last weekend, a motorcycle burst into flames after a crash near the intersection, witnesses say.

Neighbors say they've called on the DOT to perform a traffic assessment in the area, but to no avail.

The DOT tells News 12 The Bronx that it will review signal timing and markings, and explore measures to enhance safety in the area.
