The Bronx preparing for Irene

As Irene inches closer toward The Bronx, many residents are preparing for the worse, especially those living in low-lying areas.

Three levels of evacuation zones have been identified throughout the borough, which are classified alphabetically as A, B, and C, with zone A being the most prone to flooding.

Zone A includes Pennyfield Avenue in Throggs Neck, parts of City Island near Tier Street, areas around Husson and Bronx River avenues in Clasons Point and parts of Concourse Village around River Avenue and 153rd Street.

In Edgewater Park, which is under a mandatory evacuation, many residents are putting all their belongings indoors.

"I'm sweating from all the work I've been doing," says Marge Riccio, of Edgewater Park. "I'm not a water person, you know, if [the water] comes up, I get nervous."
