Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) held an emergency meeting with his cabinet today to discuss preparations ahead of Hurricane Irene, which is expected to make landfall late Saturday.

It was announced earlier that up to 900 Army and Air National Guard servicemen and women had been activated to help assist local law enforcement agencies around the state.
