Emergency shelter set up at Truman High School
Officials in The Bronx hurriedly converted Truman High School in Co-Op City from a place of learning into a place for survival ahead of Hurricane Irene.
The shelter, which is open to anyone looking to get away from the storm, allows not only people, but their pets as well.
"We're bringing in water and cages and food and cat food and we'll just prepare for the worst and hope for the best," says Office of Emergency Management volunteer Bill Franklin.
Officials say they are still in need of more volunteers to help staff the shelters all across the city.
