Irene leaves residents scrambling to protect homes

Homeowners in the Bronx were kept very busy today, dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. High winds lead some trees to crash through residents' homes.

Other residents are dealing flooded basements. One resident, Aida Paredes, woke up to several inches of water throughout her home. She says her backyard looks like a small lake and the water shows no signs of receding.

While downed trees and flooding will keep residents busy for days, many say the damage was less than they expected.
