The Bronx Charter School for Excellence begins school year
The school year began for some students, as the Bronx Charter School for Excellence opened today.
The school is one of the highest-performing charter schools in the city and one of the most popular. Administrators say they received 1,700 applications for only 28 spots in the school's incoming class. As students from kindergarten to seventh grade start their lessons, parents say they are thrilled with the school's performance, and love that it ranks so high in the city.
City public schools begin their year next week, and centers will be open in various locations throughout the Bronx starting tomorrow if children still need to be registered.
