Strauss-Kahn accuser files libel suit

(AP) - The New York City hotel maid at the center ofthe Dominique Strauss-Kahn sex assault case has filed a libellawsuit against the New York Post after it called her a prostitute.

The woman's lawyer, Kenneth Thompson, filed the claim Tuesday inBronx state Supreme Court. A series of Post articles over theweekend said the 32-year-old was a "prostitute," and a "hooker"and that she "traded sex for money."

The lawsuit says that the statements are false.

A spokeswoman for the Post said the newspaper stands by itsreporting.

Strauss-Kahn was released without bail after prosecutors saidnew information about the woman's life had forced them toreconsider the case. They say she lied about details surroundinghow she came to the U.S.

The woman maintains the sexual assault occurred.
