Businesses burned out on Jerome Ave. asking for city's help

The owners of five stores along Jerome Avenue that were ravaged by a four-alarm fire in April are calling on the city to complete its investigation so they can get back to business.

Community leaders say the FDNY has yet to determine the cause of the blaze. The case has been complicated by allegations that some of the businesses were being illegally sub-leased.

Business owners say they just want officials to complete their investigation so that they could begin the rebuilding process and remove the blight of the burnt-out storefronts.
