City to spray pesticide over Pelham Bay Park

The city is spraying Pelham Bay Park to prevent the spread of germs and diseases carried by mosquitoes this season.

Residents may see a low-flying helicopter over the area between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. today. The helicopter will be concentrating on the marshy area north of Pelham Bay Park.

Standing pools of water and wooded areas are hot spots for mosquitoes to breed and live. The Department of Health urges residents to stay covered when possible and to wear bug repellent to decrease their risk of bites.
