BX residents seek refuge in cooling centers

Many Bronx residents sought refuge from the oppressive heat wave at various cooling centers located throughout the borough today.

Many elderly people, who are especially at risk for heat-related illnesses, packed their nearest cooling centers.

Others weren't as lucky, including construction workers on East 236th Street, who couldn't escape the scorching temperatures.
