Police looking for suspect in attempted ATM robbery

Police are on the lookout for the suspect in an attempted robbery Saturday morning at a Bank of America ATM on Westchester Avenue, which has prompted customers in the area to be more careful when withdrawing money.

Police say at around 7 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was approached by the suspect, who demanded she take out money. When she wasn't able to, he threw her to the ground and got away. The victim refused any medical attention.

The Bank of America is urging its customers to always be careful, advising that ATM users always pay attention to their surroundings and never count their cash in public. One ATM user in the area also suggested taking someone with you if you go after banking hours.

Saturday morning's incident was caught by the bank's security cameras, and police are asking if anyone recognizes the suspect, or knows anything about the case, to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
