Drivers face tough commute after water main break
As Con Edison crews repair the water main that broke Wednesday, flooding Jerome Avenue with more than a foot of water, drivers and commuters face extensive delays.
Most of the area around Jerome Avenue has been blocked off as repairs get under way, and some commuters have complained that their route to work has been extended up to an hour as they take detours.
While most bus service is back to normal, the Bx32 bus has been forced to take an extensive detour, and the Bx36 bus will be stopping on Morris Avenue instead of East Tremont Avenue.
Wednesday's water main break suspended subway service, left nearby residents without gas or water, and left businesses dealing with thousands of dollars in damage. Officials say it could be days before everything is completely cleaned up.
