DOT: Contractor will repair dangerous sidewalk on Randall Ave.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) says a city contractor will make repairs to a damaged sidewalk on Randall Avenue that residents say is dangerous.

According to residents, the sidewalk near 2280 Randall Ave., between Castle Hill and Havemeyer roads, is broken in different areas. They claim some areas have metal pieces sticking out of the ground and there are holes throughout the area.

Residents say the sidewalk has caused injuries and led to repeated calls to the city, but the problem was never fixed.

News 12 The Bronx reached out to the New York City Housing Authority, which said it is not responsible for sidewalk repairs, but would work with the Department of Transportation to address the issue.

A DOT spokesperson says a city contractor will make the repairs later this summer and an inspector will go out to secure the area then.
