Cops: Housing employee stole thousands from special-needs tenantsPosted: Updated:
Police have arrested a man that they say stole thousands of dollars from special-needs tenants at the building he worked at.
Officials say George Henry, 52, who was the housing coordinator at Jasper Hall, forced tenants to pay a fake security deposit and if they didn't, he would send a letter threatening eviction.
He is also accused of forging signatures on welfare checks of tenants and cashing them.
In all, officials say he netted more than $50,000 in the scams.
Henry was charged with 137 counts of grand larceny, fraud and forgery. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
His next court appearance is on Aug. 5.
