BX, city eateries accused of hiding inspection grades

Hundreds of restaurants across the Bronx and the city are accused of hiding their inspection grades.

The health department says it issued more than 800 violations related to letter grade posting. Seven hundred and four of the restaurants did not post their grade at all, and 100 of them didn't do it correctly -- in a spot where everyone can see.

By law, the letter grade must be on a front window, door or outside wall and within 5 feet of the entrance. Restaurants caught breaking the rule can be fined up to a $1,000 for a first offense.
