Burning mattress sparks fire on Barker Ave.

A fire on Barker Avenue forced dozens of tenants out of their apartments early this morning, and investigators say they believe the flames erupted on or near a mattress.

Emergency crews responded to the fire just before 4 a.m. Authorities say it started on the second floor of a five-story building.

Nobody was injured in the 1-alarm blaze. Officials say the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
