Police: 2 Bronx children killed at hands of loved ones

Police say two young Bronx children were killed over the weekend at the hands of loved ones in their own homes.

According to authorities, a Bronx mother, 21-year-old Kim Crawford, is facing murder charges in the death of her 5-year-old son, Jamar Johnson. They say the boy died inside his Edwald home from internal bleeding after being hit in the chest and stomach.

In the second incident, the medical examiner says 3-year-old Anita Ortiz died inside a Port Morris apartment building after being hit in the stomach. Police say they have arrested the boyfriend of Ortiz?s mother, 26-year-old Edgar Algarin, who neighbors say was baby-sitting.

Officials say Crawford has been charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter. They say Algarin is also facing murder and manslaughter charges.
