BX woman battles insurance, repair companies over broken wheelchair

For Mickey Henriquez, a wheelchair is her link to the outside world, but it has been sitting in the corner of her apartment for months, broken.

Henriquez suffers from scleroderma, a disease that affects blood circulation. She has already lost both her legs and some of her fingers because of the disease.

She says that she has been battling her insurance company and repair company for six months trying to get the repairs complete. A repairman has come out a couple times, but failed to actually fix the wheelchair.

The repair company says it can't do any work until the insurance company approves the repairs. It says once approved, the repairs can be completed in about a week.
