Bronx residents furious over rent increases
Bronx residents are livid a day after the Rent Control Board voted to allow rent increases on rent-controlled apartments throughout the borough.
Under the new rules, one-year leases can go up 3.75 percent, while two-year leases can go up 7 percent.
"Everything is put on the poor taxpayer...terrible," said Kathleen McGoldrick.
"People are struggling right now to get their first month's rent and security," said real estate agent Theresa Smith.
The new rules will go into effect starting Oct. 1.
