Developer Friedlander Properties has been hiking up rents for months, businesses say. The increased cost is driving many of them out. Local leaders are pushing to bring in more business but unless the developer cooperates, they can't attract new stores.
Merchants say they want to stay on Johnson Avenue and bring more business to the neighborhood.
