Bronx school celebrates success of green initiatives

Students at a Bronx school were recognized today for their efforts in creating a healthy environment through green initiatives.

Local leaders honored Discovery High School, which was named the greenest school in the city largely due to its vertical farm program. The school feeds 450 students healthy meals and is the only "School Garden to School Café" site in the city with a profitable, student-run, community-based farmer's market.

The school received the Excellence in School Wellness Award for being "The Greenest Classroom in NYC."
