BX man accused of fraud in bridge accident case

Police say a Bronx man has been arrested and charged with fraud, grand larceny and falsifying business records after he claimed he was a part of an accident that he had nothing to do with.

Officials say Gabriel Leon Hernandez stopped his car in front of an accident involving a tractor-trailer on the Queens-bound side of the RFK Triborough Bridge and told police he had been involved in the crash and was injured.

They say Hernandez's insurance company then paid more than $21,000 in medical bills.

The driver of the car that was pinned by the tractor-trailer only received $200 for his injuries.
