Mott Haven food pantry on verge of closure
Organizers say the future of a Mott Haven food pantry is on shaky ground due to spending cuts by the federal government.
The Moor House Gardens Development Fund says it can no longer afford to give the space used by the Moor Market Food Pantry away for free due to budget cuts.
Organizers at the food pantry say they can't afford to keep operations running and pay rent.
The pantry has been servicing the Mott Haven community for more than three decades. The organization provides more than 5,000 people per month with fresh fruits, vegetables and canned goods.
