Tenants see repairs in deteriorating Bronx buildings

More than 1,000 Bronx tenants are finally seeing changes to their deteriorating apartments after a new owner took over, vowing to correct violations and improve living conditions.

About one year ago, angry residents at 3018 Heath Ave. teamed up to rally against Millbank Real Estate, which owned 10 buildings in Kingsbridge and had defaulted on the $30 million mortgage.

New owner Steven Finklestein says in the next six to eight weeks, about 40 percent of the properties' more than 4,800 violations will be corrected.

Firm ordered to pay $2.5M to fix Bronx apts.
