Flooding in Crotona Park subsides after drains cleared

The flooding in and around Crotona Park has finally subsided after the 2 inches of rain that fell flooded the area and partially submerged a number of cars.

Residents in Crotona Park say clogged drains have caused ongoing flooding problems in the area.

Sidewalk drains are consistently clogged near the intersection of Crotona Park East and Claremont Avenue, according to residents. They say they have complained to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), but the issue has not been resolved.

The DEP and the Department of Parks and Recreation dispatched crews to clear the drains, which reduced the flooding. The DEP says it will keep a closer eye on the drains in the future.
