Riverdale rabbi puts focus on tefillin for TSA agents

One Riverdale rabbi is putting a renewed focus on the tefillin ritual during travel.

Rabbi Levi Sehmtov is training TSA agents on what a tefillin is and how to identify one during a security scan. A tefillin is two leather black boxes, with sacred parchment in side, hand crafted by a special scribe. The boxes are bound to the arm and head during prayer, to spiritually sync the mind.

Sehmtov also offers his congregants tips on how to avoid security scares if they pray while traveling.
