BX bus matron arrested for alleged assault of autistic boy

A Bronx bus matron has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old autistic boy on the way to school this morning.

According to the bus company, Mar-Can Transportation, the matron is 40-year-old Gina Rosado. An office manager says she's been a model employee for the past 10 years, but the victim's mother, Joanne Ortiz, disagrees.

Ortiz says she called police after watching Rosado attack her son Matthew from her car. She says Matthew had been hesitant to get on the bus because he's had problems with Rosado before.

Matthew was treated and released from Lincoln Hospital. Ortiz says she will be taking him to school herself until Rosado is replaced with someone she can trust.

The Department of Education says Rosado has been suspended while it investigates.
