Gun Hill Road getting attention thanks to Sundance film

Gun Hill Road is getting a lot of attention thanks to a feature drama at the Sundance Film Festival.

The film was created by current NYU film student Rashaad Ernesto Green, who grew up in Eastchester. The movie is about a Latino family whose father returns from prison to his estranged wife and son.

The Bronx-born director discovered several actors from his neighborhood, and says the script reflects the positive elements of struggling Bronx families.

"I guess I want people to see how important love and family is," Green said.

The director said his script attracted well-known actors Judy Reyes and Esai Morales.
