Police seek 2 robbers posing as Con Ed repairmen

Police are searching for two robbery suspects who they say have been posing as Con Edison workers in order to gain access to the homes of senior citizens.

According to investigators, the suspects, both men in their 20s, are behind at least six robberies that happened between New Year's Eve and the first week of February.

Police say the robbers target seniors, especially those who live alone. One of the suspects would distract the homeowner, suggesting there is a water leak and asking to see the meter, while the other would scope the house and steal valuables.

One of the suspects is described as a man in mid-20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, thinly built with black hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
