Group protests plan to ax Christopher Columbus H. S.

The city's decision to phase out Christopher Columbus High School was protested today by alumni, education advocates, parents, teachers and students.

The group is hoping to persuade the Department of Education to reconsider its decision to shutter the school, which got the ax along with eight other Bronx schools.

The protest took place on the steps of City Hall.
