Pedestrians braving gusty winds in Bronx

Bronx residents who ventured outside this morning discovered a stark change from yesterday's spring-like weather, with strong gusts of wind blowing through the area and temperatures dropping into the 40s.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Bronx. Wind gusts could reach as high as 50 mph.

Pedestrians bundled up to face the elements in Soundview and Kingsbridge. In Riverdale, a sidewalk has been blocked off to protect people from falling debris from a building under construction.

The Department of Housing is urging all businesses and contractors to make sure that loose materials and equipment are secured against the fierce winds.
