Blood drive held in BX in memory of woman who diedPosted: Updated:
A blood drive was held today by family members of Josefa Negron who died three years ago after complications from knee surgery.
Negron's relatives say because of donated blood, she was given a fighting chance and though she's gone, the blood drive keeps her memory alive while giving others a fighting chance.
The blood drive, held at the Bronx Lions Club, brought out many for the 20-minute procedure that can help save a life.
"It doesn't take too much time to give the gift of life," says Ilena Velez, Negron's daughter. "It's a wonderful opportunity for people to actually just pay it forward."
