Huge trash build-up after blizzard part of federal investigation
Huge accumulations of garbage are building up on Bronx streets after sanitation workers allegedly slacked off during the first hours of the blizzard.
Criticism of the city's slow snow cleanup is now under federal investigation after City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-District 19) exposed allegations that sanitation crews deliberately shirked in protest to Bloomberg's layoffs and budget cuts.
Halloran handed over video evidence of plows going down streets with their plows up, and workers sitting in Dunkin' Donuts throughout the night. He has also accused workers of padding their overtime.
The president of the Sanitation Union has denied any wrongdoing and says he welcomes the investigation.
