Bronx residents brace for snow, hazardous roads

Bronx residents are bracing for another major storm that could dump more than a foot of snow on the borough.

The latest winter weather is forecasted to cover the area with 8-15 inches of snow and disrupt the Wednesday morning commute. Residents say they are stocking up with sand, salt and shovels.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the city has a 15-point action plan in place and hundreds of trucks ready to plow the roads overnight. Residents say they are hoping officials are ready for Round 2 after the Dec. 26 storm paralyzed the area.

Officials say they are asking the Departments of Transportation and Parks and Recreation, and the Environmental Protection Agency, to all pitch in and help with plowing. They are also bringing in private contractors to speed up snow removal.
