MTA: Blizzard response was 'a serious failure'

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority was in the hot seat today at a public hearing held by the City Council.

The hearing was held to take a deeper look into the agency's response to last month's blizzard. Officials had to answer several tough questions, including why the MTA continued to dispatch buses after they were getting stuck in the snow.

MTA officials admitted that blizzard response was handled poorly. Thomas F. Prendergast, president of MTA New York City Transit described it as "a serious failure on our part."

It was the second in a series of hearings on last month's blizzard response.
