Surveillance video shows Bronx bodega robbery

A surveillance video has been released showing an armed robbery of a bodega on Walton Avenue last week.

The footage shows two men walking into the store Jan. 7 and one of them pulling a shotgun out of a plastic shopping bag.

Bodega owner Mariano Peres says the surveillance camera covers nearly every part of the store, but the robbers didn't even look to see if there was a camera.

Peres says the suspects got away with about $3,000 in cash, cigarettes and other items. He adds that from now on, he will keep less cash in his store.

As the robbers left the store, an outside security camera caught one of the robbers sliding the gun back into his shopping bag.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
