Haitian girl released from hospital after heart surgery in BX

A Haitian girl who underwent heart surgery at Montefiore Medical Center has been released from the hospital today.

A volunteer working in Haiti following the earthquake last year discovered that Lovely Ajuste had a serious congenital heart problem.

The Gift of Life organization says it managed to get the girl and her mother to the Bronx so doctors could perform open-heart surgery to save her life.

Doctors say Ajuste is doing well in her recovery process and is waiting to be cleared to travel back to Haiti.
