DOT gives green light for traffic signal in Williamsbridge

The Department of Transportation has given the green light for a new traffic signal to go up at an accident-prone intersection in Williamsbridge.

DOT officials say the light will be installed at Bronxwood Avenue and East 213th Street, where there is currently only a stop sign. Drivers complain they have to inch forward into the intersection to see if another vehicle is coming.

Bronx residents say the dangerous corner has been the site of numerous accidents and that they've been calling for the light for nearly 10 years.

The DOT says the traffic signal will be installed by the end of April.
