BX woman reunited with family after abduction 23 years ago

A Bronx woman has been reunited with her family after being abducted 23 years ago.

Detectives say Carlina White was 19 days old when her mother took her to Harlem Hospital with a fever on Aug. 4, 1987. They say she was abducted hours later, taken to Connecticut and then Georgia, and raised under the name Nedra Nance.

Investigators say she started questioning her identity as she got older, and began searching the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's website. They say she found a baby photo that looked like herself, and e-mailed Joy White, the biological mother of the child in the picture.

White called the NYPD, which sent detectives to get DNA from her, the father and Carlina White. The match came back on Tuesday and White was then reunited with her family.

Officials say the case is still under investigation.
