Investigators search for woman who raised kidnapped child

Authorities are searching for a woman involved in raising a child who recentlyreunited with her long-lost mother in The Bronx. A North Carolina Department of Correction spokeswoman saidtoday that officials are working with law enforcement officers totry and find Ann Pettway. She has been on parole after a convictionfor attempted embezzlement. Carlina White had long suspected she was at least adoptedbecause Pettway could never provide her with a birth certificate.No suspects were ever identified in her 1987 disappearance fromHarlem Hospital. White is now 23 years old and had beenliving under the name Nejdra Nance in Connecticut. White recently reunited with her biological family. The familybelieves Pettway was the kidnapper.
