Best of the Bronx: Julian's Light
After the death of her nephew, one woman was compelled to start an organization in his honor.
Julian Feliciano was 13 at the time of his death in 2003, when he was caught in the middle of a street fight and stabbed.
Julian's Light is an organization started by Lisa Rosado in 2004. Its goal is to keep kids off the street, expose them to new things and prepare them for college.
Rosado and her 23-year-old daughter, Julissa, have teamed up to inspire Bronx youth through college visits, events with professional speakers and one-on-one mentoring.
This year marks the organization's first as an official nonprofit, which 80 teens are involved with.
