City Island Chamber of Commerce wants artists to fill empty storefronts
The City Island Chamber of Commerce is calling all artists!
The chamber is in the beginning stages of trying to move artists into about 20 empty storefronts among the quaint, specialty shops lining City Island Avenue.
President of the Chamber of Commerce, Skip Giacco, wants to match landlords with artists who may be getting priced out of some Manhattan neighborhoods.
Giacco says that more than 16,000 cars come onto City Island a day during the summer, giving the artists a tourist audience on top of its local audience.
