Bronx celebrates 100 years as part of NYC
Bronx residents this week are celebrating 100 years of being part of New York City.
News 12 The Bronx reporter Sarah Krueger visited with Lloyd Ultan, who has been tasked with preserving some of the most prized relics from the borough at the Bronx Historical Society's archives.
Among the borough's oldest treasures is the oldest known photograph of the Bronx, which dates back to 1856. There is also gun powder believed to be from the Revolutionary War and an advertisement from 1910, encouraging people to move to the borough.
Ultan says he is motivated by "the pure love for Bronx history."
Many events are being planned around the borough to celebrate 100 years as a county.
