Best of the Bronx: Children's book author
A former Bronx teacher is now writing children's books with hopes of inspiring young readers.
Naomi Pouchie began 'The Adventures of Harry and Bobo' series after retiring from teaching kindergarten a few years ago. She says she wrote the series because she feels the books she used while teaching were inadequate. Pouchie says the books' print would typically be too small for kids to read along with, and the words would be too difficult to read.
Pouchie says her books alleviate these issues by having large print, with words that are repeated often. The books also include colorful, bright illustrations.
The ultimate hope Pouchie has for children reading her books is, as she says, for them to have fun reading and possibly inspire them to one day become authors.
